Basting brushes almost pretty enough to eat

Do you cook? Because I cook, just for me or sometimes enough to feed an army, and I’ve had it with the basting thing.

siliconebastingbrushes.jpgI have tried everything — paint brushes, the business end of a celery stick, a bunch of green onions tied together — and I have not figured out the right way to get just a little juice and paint it on a bird.

Until I found these.

These pretty guys are Silicone Basting Brushes, and they are 95-cents each, dishwasher safe and will not come apart while holding turkey drippings like green onions will. They’ll do the job like paint brushes but you don’t have to toss them out or soak them in detergent after one use. And they’re more accurate, sturdier and come in more colors than a celery stick.

I’ll munch on some celery while I figure out which color to use first.

I love stylish kitchen tools. If only I needed to baste something.

I actually make a mean apple pie. You can never get the butter on a nice flaky crust without a good basting brush. And these don’t seem that stiff…
